Abstract:  Cancer patients often endure both physical and psychological challenges, with preoperative anxiety being a common concern. This study, conducted in a Turkish university hospital, aimed to explore the impact of watching comedy videos on anxiety and vital signs in surgical oncology patients. A total of 88 patients participated, with half assigned to watch comedy videos and the other half receiving no intervention. Anxiety levels and vital signs were measured before and after the intervention. The results revealed a statistically significant reduction in anxiety scores for the group watching comedy videos, along with positive changes in blood pressure. This suggests that watching comedy videos can be a beneficial and accessible method to alleviate preoperative anxiety in surgical oncology patients.
